Bangladesh Promotes Religious Harmony and Equal Rights

Dhaka:Culture Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury highlighted the coexistence of diverse opinions, paths, and religions in Bangladesh, characterized by mutual respect and harmony.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Chowdhury stated that all citizens are regarded equally by the state, with everyone enjoying equal rights under the law. He emphasized the importance of unity and the unhindered practice of religious rituals by people of all faiths in Bangladesh.

These comments were made during a meeting with a delegation from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bangladesh from the UK Parliament, held at his office. The delegation was led by UK Parliament Member Apsana Begum, with members Shokat Adam and Lord Kurbaan Hussain also in attendance.

Minister Chowdhury noted that despite past disruptions in Bangladesh's democratic process, the recent national election marked a new phase in the country's democratic journey. The meeting also covered a range of topics, including cooperation between the Bangladesh and UK parliaments, issues affecting the Bangladeshi community in the UK, and the expansion of trade and cultural exchanges.

Both sides expressed a commitment to expanding bilateral trade and enhancing cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Present at the meeting were Reserved women's seat lawmaker Advocate Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Culture Affairs Secretary Yasmin Begum, and Joint Secretary of the ministry Ilya Sumona.
