Dhaka: Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today announced that the ‘Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor’ program is set to open a new horizon of cooperation in education and research between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He emphasized the potential of the student-teacher exchange initiative to elevate bilateral relations in the realm of higher education.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Milon expressed his optimism about the collaboration while speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the second phase of the ‘Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor’ program during the inauguration of Education Expo-2026 at a city hotel. He highlighted that 74 Bangladeshi students are currently pursuing higher education in Pakistan under the first phase of the program, with even greater opportunities anticipated in the second phase.
Dr. Milon praised the standard of Pakistani universities and noted that Bangladeshi students are benefiting from studying there without incurring any costs. He commended the monthly scholarships provided to students for accommodation and living expenses, which enable them to concentrate fully on their studies.
The minister underscored the similarities in religion, culture, and food habits between Pakistan and Bangladesh, expressing his hope that Pakistani students will also come to Bangladesh for higher education in the future. He advocated for increased joint collaboration and teacher-exchange programs between universities in both countries.
Dr. Milon lauded the transparent process of selecting students for scholarships, describing Pakistan’s selection method as excellent. He assured that the Bangladeshi ministry would provide full support in conducting competitive examinations for student selection.
The event was also attended by Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider, Education Secretary Abdul Khaleque, representatives of the Pakistan Higher Education Commission, and senior officials from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh.
