Khulna: Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar emphasized the need for Bangladesh to be reshaped anew, stressing the importance of unity against irregularities, corruption, and inequality. Speaking as the chief guest at the July Mass Uprising Day event on Tuesday evening at Shibbari intersection in Khulna city, Sarkar urged citizens to work together to realize the dreams of students and citizens.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event included a reception, remembrance, and open discussion, uniting family members of martyrs, injured students and citizens, July fighters, political leaders, and other stakeholders. Sarkar highlighted the ongoing efforts to create a discrimination-free Bangladesh, acknowledging that resolving seventeen years of irregularities cannot happen overnight. He encouraged constructive criticism and welcomed suggestions from students and July fighters to aid in solving issues.
The event was presided over by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam. Other notable speakers included DIG of Police (Khulna Range) Md. Rezaul Haque, martyr Sheikh Md. Sakib Raihan’s father Sheikh Azizur Rahman, City BNP General Secretary Md. Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, and City Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Professor Mahfuzur Rahman. July fighters such as Md. Sirajul Islam, Md. Huzaifa, Mohammad Pranto, Mohammad Shahriar, Md. Noyon, and Snigdha Munni shared their memories of the mass uprising.
Family members of the martyrs and injured, along with students, July fighters, and officials from various government departments, attended the event, reflecting on the past struggles and discussing the path forward for Bangladesh.
