Bangladesh Mission Launches E-Passport Service for Expats in Japan

Tokyo: Bangladesh Embassy in Japan today launched e-passport service for the expatriate Bangladeshi nationals residing there. Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser M Siraz Uddin Miah inaugurated the initiative at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, according to a message received here.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, speaking on the occasion, M Siraz Uddin Miah stated that travel and immigration from Japan would become more convenient once the e-passport service is introduced. He highlighted the government’s efforts to address the needs of expatriates, noting that various steps have been taken for their welfare.



He further explained that the government has successfully resolved long-standing issues faced by expatriates concerning the timely acquisition of passports in different countries. “Now expatriates are getting passports in a short time,” Miah said, emphasizing the improved efficiency in passport issuance.



Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Md. Daud Ali expressed his satisfaction, acknowledging that a long-standing demand of expatriate Bangladeshis living in Japan has been fulfilled with the launch of the e-passport service. This initiative marks a significant achievement for the Bangladeshi community in Japan.



Assistant Project Director of the e-passport and automated border control management project, Major Abu Bakar Muhammad Siddiqur Rahman, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the technical aspects and benefits of the new service.



The event was attended by officials from the Department of Immigration and Passports, the e-passport project, representatives of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and members of the Bangladeshi community in Japan, marking a significant milestone in improving services for expatriates.
