Bangladesh is bright instance of communal harmony: Liton

RAJSHAHI, Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM

Khairuzzaman Liton has said Bangladesh is a bright instance of communal

harmony as people of all faiths have been living with tranquility besides

observing their respective religious festivals with liberty for long.

There is a need for integrated efforts of people of all faiths and religions

to further strengthen the existing fraternity and friendly bonding to ensure

national advancement and prosperity.

Mayor Liton, who is also Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League, came up

with the observation while visiting different puja mondaps on the nabami of

the five-day of Durgotsab here this evening.

He viewed that the present government under the dynamic and visionary

leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly so

that people of all religions can live with peace and enjoy equal rights.

He said the present government is very positive and cautious to uphold the

dignity of the nation. As a result, the country is now being widely judged as

a unique example of communal harmony.

Liton said that many of the social crimes like terrorism, corruption and

moral degradation could easily be curtailed if the rules and regulations of

all religions are followed properly in public life.

Not a single religion allows extremism, violence and repression against women

and children but has clear-cut guidelines for showing respect towards them as

a whole.

He also mentioned that not a single religion allows any of the social

disorders and instability but always facilitates establishing peace and

happiness of all living beings.

So, various social crimes like drug-addiction, sexual harassment, early

marriage and polygamy could be prevented through abiding by social and

religious values, he added.
