Bangladesh fight back after WI’s 100-run opening stand

Bangladesh picked up four wickets in the first session of day two of the St Lucia Test against the West Indies Saturday.

The Caribbeans put up 67 without losing any wicket at the end of day one. Shoriful Islam gave the Tigers a breakthrough in the 26th over by removing John Campbell with a short ball as the hosts scored 100 for none.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Raymon Reifer added 31 runs in the second wicket stand.

However, Mehidy Hasan removed Kraigg (51). Khaled Ahmed picked up two more wickets for the visitors.

Until the lunch break on day two, the West Indies scored 132 for four. They are now trailing by 97 runs in reply to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 234.

Earlier, the West Indies won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. The visitors had a good opening partnership. Also, all of their first five batters managed to have good starts. But they failed to carry on.

Jayden Seales and Alzarri Joseph bagged three wickets each for the hosts. Anderson Phillip and Kyle Mayers picked up two wickets each.
