New Delhi: Bangladesh High Commissioner to India M Riaz Hamidullah presented his credentials to Indian President Droupadi Murmu at a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu welcomed Ambassador Hamidullah and emphasized the historic relationship between India and Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, President Murmu highlighted the democratic and prosperous vision for Bangladesh and acknowledged the shared sacrifices during the Liberation War of 1971 as the foundation of bilateral ties. She also discussed the joint vision for prosperity and connectivity, congratulating Bangladesh for assuming the chairmanship of BIMSTEC for a two-year term.
Ambassador Hamidullah, who began his duties in New Delhi on 14 April 2025, conveyed greetings from Bangladesh’s President and people. He expressed his commitment to strengthening the partnership between the countries and emphasized fostering connections between the youth of both nations. Before his current role, Ambassador Hamidullah served in various diplomatic capacities, including as Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.
Other envoys from Thailand, Costa Rica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Trkiye also presented their Letters of Credence during the ceremony.
