Brisbane:Bangladesh Women's team captain Nigar Sultana Joty praised pacer Habiba Islam Pinky for her impressive performance on debut, despite the team's heavy defeat to Australia in the first ODI of a three-match series at Allan Border Field.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh, after being put into bat, were bowled out for 166 runs in 49.2 overs. Australia chased down the target with ease, scoring 168-3 in 25.4 overs, securing a seven-wicket victory.

Habiba Islam Pinky gave Australia some difficulties early in their innings, dismissing opener Georgia Voll. She later took the wicket of Beth Mooney, finishing with figures of 2-36 on her ODI debut.

Joty commended Habiba for her aggressive approach and her ability to hit the right areas consistently. Joty stated that Habiba's bowling was a highlight of the match and emphasized the need to carry these positives into the next game.

Joty also mentioned that the lack of partnerships and losing too many wickets during the powerplay were key factors in the team's defeat. She highlighted the importance of maintaining composure and patience when facing the new ball to avoid similar pitfalls in future games.
