Sylhet: Bangladesh Army and Nevada National Guard troops of the United States under United States Army Pacific Command today completed their joint exercise dubbed as Tiger Lightning (TL) 2025, an ISPR statement said here. It said the army troops of the two countries took part in the exercise at Sylhet’s Jalalabad Cantonment while it featured joint participation from the Bangladesh Army’s Para-Commando Brigade and the United States’ Nevada National Guard troops.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exercise was attended by Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Bangladesh Army’s 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander at the northeastern region, along with Tracey Ann Jacobson, the charg© d’affaires of the US Embassy in Dhaka. The week-long exercise, which commenced on July 24, 2025, saw participation from 66 personnel of the Nevada National Guard and 100 elite troops from the Bangladesh Army.
The ISPR stated that the participants engaged in strategic and practical activities focused on coordination, responsiveness, and strengthening mutual collaboration. Bangladesh and the United States have a history of cooperation on regional and global security, counterterrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance.
The exercise aimed to enhance mutual cooperation, develop strategic joint operational capabilities, and strengthen preparedness. During the closing ceremony, each participant was awarded a certificate and commemorative insignias as tokens of participation. The event was attended by commanders from the Sylhet region, representatives from the Armed Forces Division, Army Headquarters, and various high-ranking military officials, along with senior military officials from the United States Army.
