Bangladesh and New Zealand Eye Broader Economic Cooperation

Dhaka: Bangladesh and New Zealand today expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, tourism, higher education, and food processing. The discussion took place during a meeting between Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir and New Zealand High Commissioner to Bangladesh David Pine at the Prime Minister’s Office here.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the two sides held discussions on bilateral relations, trade expansion, and new avenues of cooperation between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Pine expressed New Zealand’s interest in strengthening engagement with Bangladesh in the mentioned sectors.



He also appreciated Bangladesh’s role in addressing the impacts of global climate change and encouraged the country to assume a stronger leadership role internationally on the issue. Kabir stated that Bangladesh, despite being vulnerable to climate change, is committed to sustainable development and environmental protection, and is prepared to lead globally in confronting climate challenges.
