Bangladesh: Bangladesh and the Maldives today discussed signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation with a focus on coastal tourism development in Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata. The discussion took place when Maldives High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed paid a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanom at her office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat was also present during the talks. Both sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives. They explored utilizing Maldivian expertise and cooperation in developing coastal tourism in Cox’s Bazar and Kuakata.
The discussions revealed a strong interest from both parties in signing an MoU to deepen mutual cooperation in the tourism sector. The proposed agreement is expected to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and skills, development of tourism infrastructure, and joint initiatives between the two nations.
The Maldivian envoy reiterated his country’s commitment to working closely with Bangladesh. He expressed hope that the highest level of cooperation with the current government would continue in the future.
