Bangladesh Air Force Clinches Victory in Independence Day Archery Competition

Gazipur: Bangladesh Air Force emerged as champions in the Independence Day Archery competition held at the archery training center in Tongi, Gazipur today. Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) became the runner-up while Police Archery Club finished third in the meet.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 75 archers from eight teams, including various district sports associations, BKSP, service organizations, and clubs, participated in the daylong competition. Among them, there were 33 boys and 42 girls competing in the event.

Out of the six events, the Air Force secured the championship by winning seven medals, including three gold, two silver, and two bronze. BKSP won a total of eight medals, with two gold, two silver, and four bronze, while Police Archery Club managed to secure one gold medal.

Sagar Islam of BKSP, who participated in the Paris Olympics, clinched gold in the men’s recurve event by defeating his teammate Abdur Rahman Alif in the final. In the women’s event, Eti Khatun
of Police Archery Club won the gold medal, while Taiba Akhtar of Team Blazer BD took the silver.

In the men’s compound event final, Himu Bachar of the Air Force defeated Newaz Ahmed Rakib from the Border Guard Bangladesh. Meanwhile, in the women’s compound event, Bonna Akter from the Air Force triumphed over her teammate Pushpita Zaman.

BKSP’s Arobhi Akhter and Abdur Rahman Alif won gold in the recurve mixed team event, whereas the Air Force’s pair of Bonna Akter and Himu Bacha claimed gold in the compound mixed team event.

Kazi Razib Uddin Ahmed Chapal, the general secretary of Bangladesh Archery Federation, was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony and handed out prizes to the winners. Other notable attendees included Anisur Rahman, treasurer of the federation, and Faruk Dhali, convener of the federation’s training and development committee, along with executive committee members Sohel Akram and Fazlur Rahman Mukul.
