Dhaka: After taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20 series, Bangladesh has vowed to make it 3-0 against Pakistan to take revenge for their whitewash during the Pakistan tour last May. In a bid to achieve this, they will face the visitors in the third and final match of the series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match will begin at 6 pm and will be aired live on T Sports and Nagorik TV. Bangladesh won the first match by seven wickets and secured a thrilling 8-run victory in the second game, marking their first-ever series victory against Pakistan. This comes after Bangladesh was whitewashed in a three-match series during their tour of Pakistan in May.
Since then, Bangladesh regrouped to win four straight matches in this format, two against Sri Lanka and two against Pakistan. The first two wins helped them seal their first-ever T20 series against Sri Lanka, and they maintained that winning streak against Pakistan.
Jaker Ali Anik, who played a pivotal role with a 39-ball 56 in the series-confirming victory, stated that the target is to win the last match. He emphasized the importance of not taking Pakistan lightly despite the series win.
Ahead of the Asia Cup scheduled from September 5-21, this match is likely to be Bangladesh's last international game before the tournament. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is attempting to arrange additional matches in August, following India's postponement of their tour for a three-match ODI and T20 series.
This match against Pakistan provides Bangladesh a chance to decide on the best team combination and test the reserve bench. If successful, Bangladesh will have whitewashed seven cricket teams, including three top-flight nations, in T20 series.
Bangladesh has played 24 matches against Pakistan, winning five and losing 19. The squads for both teams have been announced, with Liton Das leading Bangladesh and Salman Ali Agha captaining Pakistan.
