Dhaka: Bangla Academy has announced a series of programmes to commemorate ‘Martyrs’ Day (Shaheed Dibash)’ and the International Mother Language Day on February 21.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the observance will commence at 12:30am with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, representing the Academy’s tribute. The agenda continues with a self-composed poetry recitation session scheduled for 8:00am at the Academy’s Nazrul Mancha, chaired by poet Abdul Hai Shikder.
The day will also feature the Amar Ekushey Lecture-2026, set to take place at 11:00am at the same venue. During the event, the Director General of the Academy, Professor Mohammad Azam, will deliver the welcome address. Eminent economist Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah is slated to address the gathering, with the President of the Academy, Professor Abul Quasem Fazlul Huq, presiding over the function.
