RANGUNIA, Chattogram, March 17, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said Bangladesh as an independent nation state was established for Bengalee nation as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on March 17, 1920.
“Many Bangalee leaders dreamed of independence in the thousand years’ history of Bangalee nation, but none could succeed. Bangalee nation state was born under the leadership of Bangabandhu,” he said while speaking as chief guest at the Joy Bangla concert at Rangunia Government College ground tonight.
Private-run television channel ATN Bangla organized the concert on the occasion of Bangabandhu's 103rd birth anniversary.
Hasan, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, said with the slogan ‘Bir Bangalee Ostro Dhoro Bangladesh Swadhin Koro’ (Valiant Bangalees, take up arms and free Bangladesh), Bangabandhu had encouraged and prepared those, who rebelled against the rulers of this Bengal and who wanted independence of this soil, step by step.
“The nation state was established under the leadership Bangabandhu. That is why Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the Greatest Bengali of All Time. On this day, I am paying rich tributes to him,” he added.
Extending thanks to ATN Bangla for arranging the concert, the minister said nowadays the youths are being derailed in many ways so that extensive cultural activities are required to save youths from the menace.
“If we can make a cultural revolution across the country, the youths can be saved from getting derailed. Human being needs pure entertainment. Life cannot exist without pure entertainment. That's why I am extending thanks to the ATN Bengal authorities for organizing this entertainment programme,” he added.
Chairman of ATN Bangla and ATN News Dr Mahfuzur Rahman presided over the function while Chattogram Zilla Parishad member Abul Kashem Chishti, Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ataul Gani Osmani, Rangunia Pourshava Mayor Md. Shahjahan Sikder, Acting Principal of Rangunia College AKM Sujauddin and Kaptai 41 BGB Commander Sabbir Ahmad, among others, addressed the function.
