DHAKA, March 17, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a smart leader as he had no mistake in his 23-year democratic and independence struggle and 3.5-year ruling period.
"In the last 50-52 years, no leader was born like him. Except Bangabandhu, no leader was found in 103 years who had the capacity to liberate Bangladesh," he told a discussion in the capital.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) arranged the discussion at its Motijheel Bhaban marking the Bangabandhu's birthday and the National Children's Day.
Speaking as the chief guest, Khalid said Bangabandhu is the greatest Bangalee of all time and his birthday should be utilised in building 'Smart Bangladesh'.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to build Smart Bangladesh through proper utilisation of Bangabandhu's ideals and the spirit of Liberation War, he said.
"We vow we will build a smart Bangladesh by bearing the vision and ideology of Bangabandhu and the spirit of Liberation War," the state minister said.
Chaired by Shipping Secretary Md Mostafa Kamal, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional Secretary Sanjay Kumar Bonik, Land Port Authority Chairman Md Alamgir, Director General of Shipping Department Commodore Md Nizamul Haque and BIWTA Chairman Arif Ahmed Mustafa.
BIWTA Member (Engineering) Dr AKM Matiur Rahman presented the keynote paper.
