Dhaka: Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has officially renamed the Bangabandhu Satellite-I as "Bangladesh Satellite-I". The decision was made following a meeting of the Advisory Council, as stated in a media release from BSCL today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the renaming is part of a broader effort to align with international satellite industry standards. Along with the satellite, the Sajeeb Wazed Satellite Ground Station in Gazipur and the Sajeeb Wazed Satellite Ground Station in Betbunia have reverted to their original names: Primary Satellite Ground Station, Gazipur, and Secondary Satellite Ground Station, Betbunia, respectively.

The media release emphasized that all activities related to the satellite will now operate under the new name, "Bangladesh Satellite-I". The Posts and Telecommunications Division informed BSCL that the Chief Adviser has approved the name change of the satellite, marking a significant step in the nation's space and telecommunications strategy.
