Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has dispatched postal ballots to 63,600 voters across 18 districts who registered for the 13th national parliament election and referendum through the Postal Vote BD app.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the ‘OCV-SDI’ project on Overseas Voter Registration, disclosed that the ballots were sent on January 27 in 106 bags to various parts of the country. The EC’s data from the ICPV Postal Vote BD registration system indicates that a total of 761,138 voters have registered via the app. Among these, 575,200 are government employees, 169,643 are election officials, 10,010 are members of Ansar and VDP, and 6,285 are imprisoned voters.
Meanwhile, voting activities among expatriate voters are progressing significantly. As of 10:30 am on January 27, ballots for 766,862 expatriate voters had reached their respective destination countries, with 493,920 voters having already received their ballots. Voting has been completed by 425,788 expatriate voters, while 370,322 have deposited their ballots in post offices or post boxes in their respective countries. Additionally, ballots from 21,508 expatriate voters have already reached Bangladesh.
Salim Ahmad Khan further mentioned that a total of 1,533,683 voters, both domestic and overseas, have registered to cast their votes in the 13th national election and referendum through the Postal Vote BD app.
