Bakery Fined for Producing Food in Unhygienic Conditions in Paba

Paba: A mobile court today fined a bakery Tk 10,000 for producing and selling biscuits, bread and cakes in a highly unhygienic environment in Paba upazila of the district. The mobile court conducted the drive at the initiative of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Divisional Office, Rajshahi.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alif Traders Bakery at Samasadipur under Katakhali Police Station was fined for producing and selling the food items without obtaining a quality certificate from BSTI. The bakery was also found illegally using the BSTI monogram on product labels and failing to provide essential information, including the manufacturing and expiry dates, on the labels.

The mobile court was led by Farhana Hossain, Executive Magistrate of Rajshahi District Administration. Engineer Junaid Ahmed, an officer of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Divisional Office, served as the prosecutor. Members of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were present during the drive.
