Bail Plea of Ex-IGP Benazir’s Cashier Jasim Scrapped.

Dhaka: A court here today scrapped a bail plea of Jasim Uddin, who reportedly managed all the black money of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed as his cashier, in a case lodged over attempt to murder one Md Durjoy Ahammed. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order after holding a hearing on the plea and sent the accused to jail. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police arrested Jasim Uddin, also the former chairman of Chandanaish Upazila Parishad, from in front of La Meridian hotel at the capital's Nikunja area on December 4. The arrest was made in connection with the case filed against Jasim Uddin for his alleged involvement in an attempt to murder Md Durjoy Ahammed. According to the case documents, Md Durjoy Ahammed got shot on July 20 while taking part in an anti-discrimination movement rally in the Middle Badda area. Cadres of Awami League opened fire on the rally, injuring many, including Durjoy. He lost sight in both his eyes and was hit hard on the back of his head. The case was later filed with the Badda Police Station against 90 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
