Dhaka: The closing ceremony of the Cyber Security Awareness Month 2025 of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was held today at Falcon Hall, Dhaka Cantonment. Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest, said an ISPR press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in his closing remarks, the chief guest lauded the month-long awareness programme, emphasizing its engagement not only with Air Force personnel but also with their families and the wider community in discussions on cyber security. He highlighted that effective cyber security relies on three pillars: people, process, and technology, with people being the most crucial. He noted that technology alone is insufficient without vigilant and informed users, stating, “Every click, every decision determines our security.”

During the event, various initiatives to enhance cyber awareness and resilience were showcased. These included special briefings for officers, air force personnel, and their families, along with the distribution of educative posters and booklets, as well as interactive sessions. Notably, the campaign’s messages reached over 17,000 students from grades 8 to 12 in Shaheen Schools across the nation, marking a significant step toward cultivating a cyber-aware future generation.

Under the leadership of the Chief of Air Staff, the Bangladesh Air Force has developed a Cyber Defense Roadmap that aligns with the national strategy for creating a secure, smart, and sovereign cyberspace. This roadmap underscores the importance of collaboration with government entities, educational institutions, and industry sectors. To ensure lasting impact, the Air Force has integrated cyber awareness into its training framework at all levels to keep members vigilant against evolving digital threats.

The event also featured Professor S. M. Shamim Reza as a special speaker, who delivered a lecture on ‘Misinformation, Disinformation, and the Impact of Social Media in the Digital Era.’ His talk underscored the significance of responsibility and critical thinking in digital conduct.

The programme was attended by officers from the Ministry of Defence, ICT Division, the Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, teachers from various educational institutions, and representatives from different IT organizations.
