Dhaka: Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) observed the 49th martyrdom anniversary of former Chief of Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Khademul Bashar, Bir Uttam, and Squadron Leader Mofijul Haque with due dignity and solemnity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Air Vice Marshal Khademul Bashar commanded the 6th Sector during the Liberation War of Bangladesh and is remembered for his contribution to achieving independence and building the Air Force. He was martyred on September 01, 1976, in an air crash, as noted in an ISPR press release. Squadron Leader Mofijul Haque was also martyred in the same crash.
On this occasion, doa mahfils were held at central mosques of all BAF bases and units. A special munajat was offered for the salvation of the departed souls and the peace and prosperity of the country. Senior BAF officers, airmen, and civilians attended the doa mahfils.
Additionally, Bangladesh Air Force Base Bir Uttam AK Khandker organized doa and holy Quran recitation at their graveyards. Senior BAF officers, airmen, and other members were present at the doa mahfil.
