Awareness building meetings against wild elephants held in Jamalpur

The Board Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) has arranged a series of awareness building meetings at various spots against the attack of Indian wild elephants in the frontier areas in the district here yesterday.

According to35th Battalion of BGB (Jamalpur) sources, chairmen, members and local elites of different unions joined the meetings. In the meeting, they urged to create awareness among the people of the frontier villages against the attacks on the wild elephants.

They said, some Bangladeshi nationals are killing and injuring the wild elephants as they (wild elephants) used to damage ripen paddy, crops, trees and houses and the attacks by the Indian wild elephants have been increased.

Assistant Director of 35th Battalion of BGB Muhammad Shamsul Haque said, a total of 26 flag meetings were held between the BGB and Indian BSF at different various Border Observation Posts (BOPs) to save the valuable lives and properties at the frontier areas since May 18.
