Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today alleged that an attempt is underway to create anarchy in the country by spreading false propaganda on social media. He said, "The enemies of Bangladesh are rearing their heads again and starting to rise up. As time passes, a malicious attempt is being made to create an anarchic situation in the country. Unfortunately, we are seeing that a process to create anarchy is underway even through the dissemination of false propaganda on social media."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul made these remarks while speaking to journalists after a joint meeting of the BNP and its affiliated organizations, held on the occasion of the historic November 7 National Revolution and Solidarity Day at the party's central office in Naya Paltan. Mirza Fakhrul presided over the meeting.
Recalling the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to nation-building, Fakhrul stated that Ziaur Rahman first turned his attention to political reform. He emphasized that Ziaur Rahman restored the multiparty democratic system from one-party rule, ensured press freedom, guaranteed the independence of the judiciary, and established the Supreme Judicial Council. Fakhrul described him as a statesman who initiated massive economic changes and gave momentum to the economy, laying the foundation of Bangladesh's garments industry, and bringing changes in women's education and empowerment.
The senior BNP leader also praised the efforts of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. He noted that just as Ziaur Rahman united the nation, Tarique Rahman is working to do the same, while Begum Khaleda Zia guided the anti-fascist movement. Fakhrul stressed that the philosophy of Bangladeshi Nationalism left by Ziaur Rahman can never be defeated, asserting that the BNP rises from the ashes like a phoenix.
In light of the historic 7th November National Revolution and Solidarity Day, the BNP Secretary General announced a 10-day programme scheduled from November 5 to 13. The programme includes hoisting the party flag at the BNP central office and all party offices across the country at 6 am on November 7. Party members will place floral wreaths and offer Fateha at the grave of Ziaur Rahman at 10 am on the same day.
A rally will be organized by the Dhaka Mohanagar North and South BNP in front of the party's central office in Naya Paltan at 3 pm on November 7, with similar rallies occurring at district and upazila levels nationwide. Affiliated organizations will hold discussions and other programmes, including a discussion by Sramik Dal and Chhatra Dal on November 5, and a photo exhibition at TSC on November 7-8.
Other activities include educational material distribution by Olama Dal on November 9, a discussion by Tati Dal on November 10, and Krishak Dal on November 11. JASAS will organize a cultural programme at Shaheed Minar on the evening of November 11. A discussion meeting by BNP will be held at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Conference Centre on November 12.
Documentaries will be published across electronic and print media and online platforms between November 6 and 13. Posters and special supplements will also be published to commemorate the 7th November National Revolution and Solidarity Day. The meeting was attended by BNP's senior joint secretary general, joint secretaries general, conveners and member secretaries of Dhaka Mohanagar North and South BNP, and leaders of central affiliated organizations.
