Dhaka: Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain today emphasized his commitment to establishing a standard of honesty, trustworthiness, and good governance. In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page, Mahmud outlined his determination to lead by example in promoting integrity within his ministry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif Mahmud highlighted his stance against corruption by disclosing that he personally requested the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate allegations against his former assistant private secretary. He affirmed that his ministry has been instructed to fully cooperate with the ACC during the investigation process.
Mahmud stated that anyone found involved in corruption would face action as per the country’s law, reinforcing the post-July commitment of Bangladesh to combat corruption. He expressed faith in the impartiality and professionalism of the constitutional bodies, emphasizing their significant role in realizing the vision of a “New Bangladesh.”
Addressing attempts to create political misperceptions about him, Mahmud underscored the importance of truth and moral courage. He expressed hope that the ACC would conduct a fair and thorough investigation, bringing the truth to light.
