COX'S BAZAR: Enamul Haque Ashiq and Ashraful Hasan delivered remarkable performances, each claiming three wickets, to put Chattogram Division in a commanding position on the first day of the fourth round game against Barishal Division at Cox's Bazar Stadium. The duo's efforts saw Barishal falter to 236-7 by the end of the day's play. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ashiq and Ashraful's six-wicket haul left Barishal in a difficult situation. Despite the setbacks, Tasamul Haque managed to score 53, aiding Barishal in reaching a respectable total at stumps. Meanwhile, Moin Khan was unbeaten on 43 as the day's play concluded. Barishal began their innings with a promising start, as openers Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Abdul Mazid forged a 62-run partnership after electing to bat first. Ashraful broke the partnership by dismissing Mazid for 39, and subsequently, Ifti fell to Ashraful's bowling after contributing 37 runs to the scoreboard. Ashiq's intervention in the middle order created further difficulti es for Barishal, reducing them to 120-5. Despite the challenges, Tasamul Haque's resilience helped Barishal surpass the 200-run mark, providing some relief to the team as they look ahead to the next day's play.
