Doha:Invest Bangladesh Authority Chairman Ashik Chowdhury has emphasized Bangladesh's efforts to streamline investment promotion and create an investor-friendly environment to attract international capital into clean energy and other priority sectors.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chowdhury made these remarks during a ministerial panel discussion at the Global Investment Promotion Conference, part of the World Investment Forum (WIF) 2026 in Doha, Qatar. The panel, titled 'From Climate Priorities to Investment Accelerating the Energy Transition Project Pipeline,' focused on translating climate commitments and energy-sector priorities into commercially viable, investment-ready projects.

Chowdhury highlighted Bangladesh's investment promotion strategy, which emphasizes bringing investment-related functions under a unified institutional framework to simplify investor engagement with government agencies. He noted that overcoming institutional fragmentation is crucial for improving the investment climate and facilitating investment.

The initiative aims to strengthen coordination among investment promotion, policy research, industrial land development, and transaction structuring, aiding investors in navigating the project development process more efficiently. Chowdhury also mentioned that better institutional coordination could address challenges related to land availability, regulatory procedures, and the preparation of viable projects, especially in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Highlighting the clean energy investment prospects, Chowdhury stated that Bangladesh seeks to attract investment in utility-scale solar power generation, renewable energy projects for industries, and supporting electricity transmission and grid infrastructure. Developing bankable projects, ensuring land access, and establishing predictable regulatory arrangements are essential to attracting long-term private investment.

He further explained that the integrated investment promotion framework is expected to connect international developers and financiers with viable opportunities while improving coordination among government institutions.

The World Investment Forum, organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), gathers policymakers, business leaders, and investment representatives globally to discuss investment trends, challenges, and opportunities. As part of the forum, Invest Bangladesh is scheduled to present Bangladesh's investment potential to international investors to enhance the country's position as a destination for foreign direct investment (FDI).

Through its participation, Bangladesh aims to showcase how institutional reforms, improved project preparation, and stronger coordination can mobilize international capital for sustainable economic growth and accelerate the transition towards clean energy.
