Around 5kg gold seized at Shahjalal airport, one held

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2016 (BSS) - Customs officials arrested a Dubai bound passenger along with around 5 kilograms of gold worth about Taka 2.40 crore from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city in the early hours today.

Customs officials arrested one Zahirul Islam of Comilla district from Green Channel area of the airport and seized 42 gold bars weighing 8.870 gram from his possession around 12.45am, assistant commissioner of customs AHM Ahsanul Kabir told BSS.

The estimated value of the seized gold is Taka 2.40 crore, he also said.

A case was lodged to this end.
