Dhaka: Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman announced that the Army will return to barracks once the newly elected government assumes office. He clarified that a portion of the Army will remain deployed to assist in maintaining law and order until the police are fully prepared to take over.
According to United News of Bangladesh, General Waker-Uz-Zaman addressed members of all ranks of the Bangladesh Army at the CAS Darbar, with those deployed in United Nations peacekeeping missions joining virtually. During his address, he praised the Army personnel for their responsibility and professionalism during election duties.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman highlighted the Army’s role in stabilizing the country’s political environment, stating that their service will be remembered by the nation and its people. He concluded his speech with a verse from the Holy Quran, emphasizing patience and divine reward.
