Chattogram: Chief of Army Staff General Wakar-Uz-Zaman has pledged to transform the Bangladesh Army into a well-trained and modern force as he addressed the 'President Parade' at the Bhataiary BMA Parade Ground in Chattogram today. The event was marked by the commissioning of officer cadets from the 87th BMA Long Course and the 59th Special Course of the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA). According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Army chief emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation's independence and sovereignty, urging the newly commissioned officers to uphold these values. The ceremony, attended by high-ranking military officials and families of the cadets, celebrated the culmination of three years of rigorous training for a total of 227 new officers, including both male and female cadets. The event was a showcase of military precision and discipline, with General Wakar-Uz-Zaman inspecting the parade and distributing awards to outstanding cadets. Among the awardees was Battalion Senior Unde r Officer Abdullah Al Arafat, who received the 'Sword of Honour' and 'Chief of the Army Gold Medal' for his exemplary performance. The ceremony also featured the participation of international guests and dignitaries, including the Commandant of the Sri Lankan Military Academy. The presence of these notable figures underscores the international camaraderie and cooperation within military training and development. The 'President Parade' not only marked a significant milestone for the new officers but also highlighted the ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen the Bangladesh Army, a commitment reiterated by the Army chief in his address.
