Dhaka: Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus has expressed his expectation that the armed forces will persist in their collaborative efforts with the citizens to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty. ‘I hope, the members of the armed forces will continue to work together with the people,’ the Chief Adviser stated in a message ahead of the ‘Armed Forces Day (AFD) 2025,’ which is set to be celebrated tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus extended his greetings and congratulations to all Army, Navy, and Air Force members on this occasion. He conveyed his best wishes for the success of all AFD programs, paying profound respect to the martyrs, including armed forces members who sacrificed their lives for the freedom struggle of Bangladesh.
In his remarks concerning the Great Liberation War, the Chief Adviser highlighted the pivotal role of the Armed Forces in the resistance war and their leadership throughout the prolonged struggle. He recounted the coordinated counterattack launched by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Liberation Army, paramilitary forces, and patriotic citizens against the occupation forces on November 21, leading to the final victory on December 16.
Prof Yunus expressed his gratitude to the armed forces for their unwavering support to the civil administration across various activities, including mass uprisings, natural disaster response, industrial security, law and order maintenance, and arms recovery. He praised their efforts over the past 15 months in fostering communal harmony and improving the overall situation in the country.
The Chief Adviser concluded by wishing success for all programs associated with Armed Forces Day.
