Armed Forces Day Celebrated at M R Chowdhury Ground in Cumilla Cantonment.

CUMILLA: Armed Forces Day was observed at M R Chowdhury Ground in Cumilla Cantonment of the district today amid festivity and enthusiasm marking the establishment of the army, navy, and air forces during the 1971 Liberation War. General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 33 Infantry Division and Cumilla Area Commander Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq addressed the event as the chief guest, held at MR Chowdhury Ground in Cumilla Cantonment this afternoon. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the chief guest highly appreciated the immense courage, cooperation, and heroic contribution of the people of the Cumilla region. He paid humble tribute to all the brave martyrs, including the brave freedom fighters of the Cumilla region, and thanked all the freedom fighters, family members of martyrs, and invited guests. Superintendent of Police Md Asfiquzzaman Akhtar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Barua, District PP Kaimul Haque Rinku, brave freedom fighters, martyr family members, military and civilian of ficials, former members of the armed forces, local dignitaries, and media persons, among others, were present. A reception was also held in honor of the brave freedom fighters, army officers, and members of the army who participated in the Great War of Independence. The families of 847 freedom fighters were given a reception at this event. Earlier, in the morning, the day began with a special prayer at the Cumilla Cantonment Mosque, seeking the welfare and prosperity of the country and the continued progress and prosperity of the armed forces.
