Dhaka: Team Aparajeyo lifted the CCDM T20 Challenge Cup after cruising to a five-wicket win over Team Agrani in the final game today at Cricketers Academy Ground. With this victory, the tournament, which was introduced to provide ongoing competitive playing opportunities for players from the eight non-participating clubs of the Dhaka First Division Cricket League 2025-26, concluded successfully.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the eight-team tournament witnessed Aparajeyo winning six out of seven matches in the group phase to secure their spot in the final, while Agrani reached the final based on a superior run rate over Team Odommo, despite both teams winning five matches each. Aparajeyo’s dominant performance in the final ensured their title win in a convincing manner.
Agrani, after opting to bat first, posted a score of 155-8. Aparajeyo chased down the target in 18.3 overs, scoring 159-5. Skipper Touhid Khan spearheaded the chase with a 45-run innings off 35 balls, including six fours and a six. However, it was Salehin Rifat Shad’s explosive 40 not out from 16 balls, featuring four fours and three sixes, that accelerated Aparajeyo’s victory, overcoming Agrani’s bowling attack.
Aparajeyo’s chase began shakily, losing two wickets for just 19 runs. Tawsif Ahmed and Safayet Ifty attempted to stabilize the innings with scores of 18 and 20 respectively, but Agrani’s bowlers responded by dismissing them, leaving Aparajeyo at 69-4. With the match poised, Touhid and Rifat’s 70-run partnership for the fifth wicket dashed Agrani’s hopes. Touhid was eventually dismissed, but Rifat, with support from Rakik Islam, who remained not out on 15, saw Aparajeyo through to victory.
Earlier, Agrani’s innings was bolstered by opener Reyajul Mollah’s quickfire 20 off 7 balls, including three sixes. Despite promising contributions from Riazul Karim, who scored 43, and Rahanur Islam, who added 31, Agrani fell short of a more challenging total due to timely wickets from Aparajeyo’s bowlers. Masmain Sagor led the bowling attack with figures of 3-43, supported by Raihan Uddin and Asaduzzman, who each took two wickets.
