Dhaka: Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, today stated in Jatiya Sangsad that all problems can be resolved if the government and the opposition move forward in a spirit of cooperation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Speaker made the remarks while welcoming the move for forming a 10-member joint committee to be represented equally from the ruling party and opposition on the country's power and energy situation. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman proposed the formation of the joint committee in the House today with Power and Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood as its head.
The Speaker expressed his anticipation that the Leader of the Opposition would soon provide the names of their five members, as the Jatiya Sangsad is set to be prorogued at the end of this month. He highlighted that the speeches from both the Leader of the House and the opposition leader have generated significant hopes and aspirations among the people. Hafiz emphasized that if the government and the opposition continue to move forward in a spirit of cooperation, it would be possible to resolve any problem of the country.
Earlier in his speech, the Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman proposed that Energy Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood be made the chief of the committee to ensure that the committee's recommendations could be considered effectively.
