Anee Seeks Continued Dutch Cooperation in Water Sector

Dhaka: Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee today emphasized the Netherlands' vital role in Bangladesh's socio-economic development since independence. He urged the Dutch government to maintain its support in areas such as sustainable water management, riverbank protection, climate change adaptation, and human resource development.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minister Anee made these remarks during a meeting with the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, Joris Van Bommel, at the ministry. The meeting focused on various issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Ambassador Van Bommel highlighted the geographical similarities between Bangladesh and the Netherlands and reiterated his government's commitment to aiding the Delta Plan, addressing climate change risks, and ensuring sustainable river management and human resource development.

Water Resources Secretary Dr. A. K. M Shahabuddin and First Secretary (Water and Climate) of the Netherlands Embassy Inge Klaasen were also present during the discussions.
