Anee Seeks ADB Cooperation for Sustainable Water Resource Management

Dhaka:Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee has requested ongoing support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for sustainable water resource management and riverbank protection in Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made the appeal during a meeting with ADB Executive Director Satya Srinivas Lolla at the Ministry of Water Resources. State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad also attended the meeting.

The minister welcomed the ADB executive director to Bangladesh and expressed optimism that ADB would play a more significant role in promoting sustainable growth, enhancing disaster response capacity, expanding regional cooperation, and improving the quality of life for the public.

State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad highlighted the ADB as a reliable development partner for Bangladesh. He called for stronger cooperation in exchanging experiences related to water resource management, as well as in education, technical cooperation, professional skills training, and research.

The ADB executive director confirmed the organization's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Bangladesh and developing a new Country Partnership Strategy. He indicated ADB's interest in collaborating on sustainable water resource management, riverbank protection, and erosion prevention.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary Khondkar Azim Uddin, Additional Secretary Md. Enamul Haque, and senior officials from ADB.
