Cox’s Bazar: Amite Hasan struck the first double century of the 26th National Cricket League (NCL) as Sylhet put themselves in a strong position against Khulna Division on Day 2 of the fourth round game at Cox’s Bazar Academy Ground today. Amite, who started the day with 109, was finally dismissed for 213, helping Sylhet declare their innings at 496-7. At stumps, Khulna had reached 3 for no loss.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asadullah Galib also hit a century for Sylhet, scoring 115 before being dismissed. Resuming the day at 244-3, Amite and Galib frustrated Khulna further to keep Sylhet ahead. They put on a 251-run partnership for the fourth wicket, which was broken when Mahedi Hasan dismissed Galib after he hit seven fours and three sixes in his 242-ball knock.

Amite soon followed Galib, completing his first-ever double century in first-class cricket. Before being the sixth batter out, Amite smashed 18 fours and one six for his 213 off 455 balls. Following Amite’s dismissal, Sylhet declared
their innings.

Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain, who returned to competitive cricket after a knee operation last year, bowled the first over for Sylhet, conceding two runs. Ebadot’s fitness will be closely monitored as he resumes the game for Sylhet tomorrow.
