Khulna: Sylhet batter Amite Hasan continued his remarkable form by scoring his second successive century in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL), maintaining the spotlight on him. Amite, who has been consistently scoring for the past three years, first drew major attention with a double century in the previous match. His recent century not only strengthens his bid for a national team call-up but also positions Sylhet favorably for another victory in the NCL. Meanwhile, Dhaka and Chattogram are also on the verge of securing wins.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Amite Hasan’s persistent form was instrumental in Sylhet’s dominance over Dhaka Metro at Khulna Stadium. After smashing a double century in the last game, Amite scored 101 in this match, leading Sylhet to a first-innings total of 376, establishing a 246-run lead. Dhaka Metro, having been dismissed for just 130 in their first innings, faced further setbacks, ending the day at 49-4. They require an additional 197 runs to compel Sylhet to b
at again.
In other matches, Dhaka Division is poised for their first victory in the NCL after Khulna’s batting collapse in the second innings. Khulna’s slim 12-run lead after the first innings proved insufficient as they were bowled out for 91 in the second innings. Dhaka, having bowled out Khulna for 172 earlier, set a modest target of 104 runs. Young pacer Anamul Haque’s 4-17 was pivotal in dismantling Khulna’s batting lineup.
Chattogram is also eyeing victory after Ahmed Sharif’s impressive 5-47 restricted Rajshahi Division to 202-8 at stumps on Day 2. Rajshahi, who managed a mere 112 in their first innings, could only establish a 62-run lead with two wickets in hand. Chattogram, having scored 252 in their first innings, is in a strong position thanks to Sharif’s bowling and Shamim Patwari’s earlier 84-run contribution.
In the match between Rangpur and Barishal, Abdullah Al Mamun’s 65 helped Rangpur reach 218-5, trailing by 118 runs. Barishal had earlier put up 336, with four of their batsmen achieving
half-centuries. With five wickets remaining, Rangpur still has a chance to surpass Barishal’s total, with Ariful Haque and Tanbir Hayder at the crease at the close of Day 2.
