Dhaka: State Minister for Youth and Sports, Aminul Haque, has urged students across the nation to contribute to the government’s ambitious plan of planting 25 crore trees over the next five years. Speaking at a tree plantation event at MDC Model School and College and Sultan Molla High School in Mirpur, Haque emphasized the importance of involving educational institutions in this environmental campaign.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister highlighted the launch of tree plantation activities specifically targeting educational institutions in Pallabi and Rupnagar under the Dhaka-16 constituency. However, he stressed that the initiative should extend beyond schools and colleges to include all areas where trees can be planted.
Aminul Haque encouraged students to plant at least one tree in accessible locations such as their homes, yards, or neighborhoods. He further urged them to motivate their parents to participate in this initiative upon returning home, reinforcing the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and enhancing the environment.
The minister underscored the collective responsibility of all citizens in achieving the tree plantation target, encouraging widespread participation to foster a greener and more sustainable environment. As the chief guest of the event, Haque joined students in planting saplings of various species, marking the beginning of this significant environmental effort.
The event was attended by students, teachers, guardians, local residents, and leaders from the BNP, reflecting broad community support for the campaign.
