Dhaka: All preparations have been completed for taking Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia abroad for better medical treatment. Visa processing for her entire entourage, including seven physicians from the medical board formed for her care, has also been finalized, stated BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Amir Khasru mentioned that if Khaleda Zia’s physical condition and other necessary arrangements remain favorable, she will initially be transported to London by a long-distance specialized air ambulance on November 8. Subsequently, she might be transferred to a multidisciplinary health center in the USA or Germany for a liver transplant, based on the advice of specialist physicians. Contacts have already been established with several London hospitals for her treatment.

A total of 16 individuals, including physicians and nurses, are expected to accompany her on this journey. Amir Khasru added
that the timing of Khaleda Zia’s departure might be delayed by one or two days, depending on the availability of the air ambulance. Another member of the BNP Standing Committee, Salauddin Ahmed, confirmed that Khaleda Zia would be flown abroad via an air ambulance equipped with comprehensive medical support.

The former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, aged 79, is experiencing multiple health issues, including liver cirrhosis, and diseases affecting her heart, lungs, kidneys, and eyes, along with arthritis and diabetes. She has been receiving treatment at the capital’s Evercare Hospital under the supervision of a designated medical board for an extended period.
