Former city unit general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Shafiqul Islam Sikder passed away last night at a hospital in the city here.
He was 62.
Shafiqul Islam, also former vice president of Cumilla Victoria College, was suffering from chronic diseases for a long time.
He left behind his wife, a son, two daughters, relatives and a host of well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death.
