Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said artificial intelligence (AI) technology has opened a new chapter in library management in an era defined by knowledge and innovation. ‘Across all areas-information organization, knowledge preservation, information retrieval and use-the proper and positive application of AI-based technologies can make libraries more modern, efficient and user-friendly,’ he said in a message issued on the occasion of the 70th anniversary celebration of the Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB), to be observed on December 12 and 13.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Yunus expressed his pleasure over the upcoming international conference titled ‘LAB International Conference on Reimagining Librarianship: Forging the Future with AI Technologies,’ scheduled for December 12 and 13, 2025. The conference is organized to commemorate the 70th anniversary of LAB, aiming to bring together library professionals from the country alongside international researchers and experts.
Professor Yunus highlighted the commendable role played by LAB in advancing the library and information science profession over the past seven decades. He emphasized the importance of developing an education system that is information-rich, technology-driven, and humane to tackle the challenges of the 21st century.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that the conference would be a significant milestone in achieving this objective and wished for its overall success.
