Dhaka: Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) emphasized the importance of setting reasonable prices for sacrificial animals at cattle markets, aiming for a scenario where both buyers and farmers benefit. During his visit to the North Shahjahanpur Cattle Market in the capital, he stressed the need to ensure that no party incurs losses in the process.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser highlighted the potential consequences of imbalanced pricing, noting that excessively high prices would disadvantage buyers, while excessively low prices would harm farmers. He expressed contentment with the current management of the cattle markets, stating that it meets satisfactory standards.
To maintain the quality of the cattle being sold, measures have been implemented to prevent sick animals from entering the markets. Veterinarians have been appointed to oversee this aspect. Jahangir, who also serves as Home Adviser, confirmed his satisfaction with the security and organizational arrangements at the cattle markets, noting the deployment of an appropriate number of Ansar personnel to ensure safety.
Additionally, the Home Adviser issued a warning about the enforcement of legal action against individuals found guilty of forcibly taking vehicles carrying sacrificial animals to unauthorized cattle markets.
