Dhaka: National Consensus Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz today emphasized the urgency of finalizing all issues on which consensus has been reached. He made this remark while addressing the 21st day of the second phase of the commission's dialogue with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Ali Riaz highlighted the necessity of reaching a final stage of the July Charter by July 31. He stressed that all issues agreed upon through extensive discussions must be finalized to ensure clarity in the charter. The commission aims to consolidate the opinions from political parties into a coherent proposal.
Prof Ali Riaz noted that each political party would provide its own statement, and the commission is working to incorporate these proposals. The process, while lengthy, is expected to simplify future discussions. During the 20th meeting of the second phase, the commission distributed the draft of the July Charter to political party representatives. Comments on this draft are anticipated by tomorrow.
The commission aims to integrate all agreed issues into the final charter, with hopes of achieving this within the next couple of days. Prof Ali Riaz expressed gratitude to political party representatives for their dedicated efforts.
