Rajshahi: All sorts of necessary measures were taken to celebrate Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, in a peaceful and festive mood. In the district, the five-day Durgotsab will be celebrated in 462 mondaps, consisting of 382 in rural areas and 80 in the city, from September 28. The festival will begin amid Shasti and will end through Dashami.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these details were revealed in a preparatory meeting for the Sharadiya Durgotsab held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC)’s Office today. DC Afia Akhter presided over the meeting. The DC emphasized that the Sharadia Durgotsab is the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, and preparations are in full swing with idol-making activities in each of the mondaps progressing rapidly. Both district and upazila administrations have taken comprehensive measures to ensure the celebration is successful and peaceful.

DC Afia Akhter highlighted that all law-enforcement agencies will be on high alert during the festival. In each of the Puja mondaps, police, Ansar, and RAB will maintain patrols, with volunteers also providing support. Additionally, Closed Circuit Cameras will be installed in the important mondaps to enhance security.

Members of Hindu Kallyan Trust, representatives of Puja Udjapan Parishad, and members of the law-enforcing agencies were present at the meeting. Meanwhile, idol-makers and artisans are currently experiencing their busiest days as they work on idol-making and decoration.
