Dhaka: A Dhaka court today sent actress Nusrat Faria to jail in a case filed over the attempted murder of Enamul Haque in the capital during the July Mass Uprising. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police produced Nusrat Faria before the court and pleaded to keep her behind bars till the end of the probe.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Immigration Police arrested Nusrat Faria on May 18 from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while she was attempting to travel to Thailand. After her arrest, she was handed over to Bhatara Police Station, where she was shown arrested in the attempted murder case following primary interrogation.
The case documents reveal that Enamul Haque participated in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19 in Bhatara. During the rally, an attack occurred, resulting in Enamul being shot in the leg. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Enamul Haque filed the case on May 3, naming 283 people as defendants, including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
