Jashore: A day-long public hearing aimed at raising awareness about corruption among the general populace was conducted at the Zila Shilpakola Academy. This initiative was jointly organized by the district administration of Jashore and the District Integrated Office of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), with ACC Chairman Dr. Abdul Momen and its Commissioner Miah Mohammad Ali Akbar Azizi attending as the chief and special guests.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was also attended by Jashore's Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Azaharul Islam and Superintendent of Police (SP) Rownok Jahan. Dr. Abdul Momen, in his address as the chief guest, emphasized that although eradicating corruption entirely is not feasible, it can be significantly reduced through public awareness. He highlighted that the public hearing serves as a platform to foster better understanding between officials and citizens to tackle societal corruption. He reiterated the ACC's commitment to exposing the true culprits with the support of the public.
Commissioner Ali Akbar Azizi noted that the ACC's role extends beyond instilling fear; it also involves raising awareness. During the hearing, 75 allegations were brought forward against 37 government, semi-government, autonomous, and non-government offices. Organizers assured that these allegations would undergo scrutiny, with investigations to follow if the claims of corruption are substantiated.
