Rajshahi:The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has ordered three prison officials to submit their wealth statements after investigations revealed assets that appeared inconsistent with their known income sources.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the officials under scrutiny are Md Rafiqul Islam, a lab technician at Rangpur Central Jail; Md Zahurul Islam, a factory overseer at the same jail; and Saiful Islam, deputy jailer at Narail District Jail.
Md Rafiqul Islam reportedly possesses assets worth 42,37,660 taka for the 2025-26 tax year, including 13,20,000 taka in immovable assets and 29,17,660 taka in movable assets. His total assets, including family expenditures, amount to 70,32,496 taka, which exceeds his acceptable income of 66,11,565 taka by 14,99,211 taka, deemed disproportionate by the ACC.

Including expenditures, the total assets amount to 92,03,665 taka, against an acceptable income of 50,52,296 taka, resulting in 41,51,369 taka of unexplained assets.
