Khulna:The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated legal proceedings by filing two separate cases against six officials from the Khulna City Corporation (KCC). These cases involve allegations of misappropriating Taka 34.2 lakh and the destruction of evidence related to 11 license registers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cases were filed by ACC Deputy Assistant Director Md Ashikur Rahman. In the first case, three officials—Licence Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, suspended Senior Licence Officer Faruk Hossain Talukder, and cashier of the accounts department Sanjib Kumar Saha—were accused of negligence and failure to maintain proper accounts, resulting in the misappropriation of Taka 34.21 lakh. This case was filed under Sections 420, 409, and 109 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947. The second case involves five officials Licence Inspectors Md Habibur Rahman, Monirul Islam, Sheikh Shahed Hasan, Licence Inspector and current Conservancy Supervisor Kazi Manzur-ul-Alam, and Senior Licence Officer Faruk Hossain Talukder. The charges were filed under Sections 409, 201, and 109 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
