Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Ataur Rahman, former chairman of Kushtia Sadar Upazila, for failing to submit his wealth statement within the stipulated time. Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department at the ACC headquarters Md Aktarul Islam confirmed the news today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the case was filed against Ataur Rahman under section 26(2) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, for not submitting the wealth statement within the prescribed time. Ataur Rahman is currently serving as the General Secretary of Kushtia Poura Awami League. He is also noted to be a cousin of Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, the former lawmaker of Kushtia-3 (Sadar) constituency and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League.
